“Watch me!” - Usually a nervous call to the belayer to indicate that something is wrong and there may be an impending attack of gravity. Belayer should normally adopt a strong position and be ready for the climbing to fall and take the fall.
Weighting - A process adopted by some climbers to increase strength by wearing weighted belts or rucksacks when bouldering or climbing. This is alleged to increase muscle and tendon strength. It is not something widely acknowledged as a benefit to training and may cause extra stress on joints, tendons and muscles.
Whipper - n. American expression for a fall whereby the climber is whip lashed in the harness.
White Out - n. Condition sometimes endured by Alpine and Mountain Climbers, where a snow storm is so thick it causes a complete lack of visibility.
Wire Gate - A type of non locking Karabiner popular with quick draws when a lead climber wants a no hassle and quick clip into a bolt.
