Z-Pulley -n. A device for allowing a climber to haul another climber or heavy gear up to him. Gives a 1:3 ratio in terms of gearing so would still require the operator to be strong. A given use would be for a lead climber to haul the second up to him if the second was stuck on the crux of a route.
Zipper - vb. A bad fall whereby the falling
climber descends with such force it rips out the protection from the rock
face as he plummets past it.
