Tie a Double Overhand Knot
This is a variant of the Overhand Knot with the addition of an extra loop. This gives it more volume and is a better stopping knot if you are worried about rope slipping through another knot or hardware. It is sometimes referred to as a Blood Knot if it is tied around another rope or object. Popular as a stopper knot when used in conjunction with a Figure of Eight knot tied into a harness. Can be difficult to untie after experiencing a heavy load but confidence lies in this factor as it is a solid knot.
Step One:
Figure 1: Make a loop in the end of the rope.
Figure 2: Thread the tail of the rope back under the main
rope. The arrow indicates the direction of the tail of the rope in the next
movement.
Figure 3: Follow the arrows in Figure 2. and the tail of
the rope passes through both loops.

Step Two:
Figure 4: Pull the tail and the main section of the rope away from each other in opposite directions to tighten the rope and make the Double Overhand stopper knot. Ensure the knot is tight before use.
