Tie an Overhand Knot
Stopper knots
These are used to prevent movement in a rope, often used in conjunction with another knot where the tail of the rope may slip and needs to be secured so it doesn’t run through the knot when strain is applied to the knot.
Overhand knot
This is a simple stopper knot. It can be used to tidy up slack tail on after
tying a Figure of Eight knot. The Overhand knot is not strong, so use it
where you do not expect great force directly on that knot.
Figure 1: Make a loop in the end of the rope.
Figure 2: Pass the tail of the rope through the loop.
Figure 3: Pull the loop tight until it forms the knot.
